Lunch cruise

Danced on the Nile Pharoah today on a lunch sail. there just before 12. the coaches full of tired hungry tourists who have been herded around the pyramids all morning arrive around 2.30pm and the whole sail (including me performing on both decks) is over within an hour. Usually lasts 2 hours - but I guess this way it cuts down on any overlap on the tour guides timetable for whatever they have to run off to do next.

These coach loads all look a bit stunned. They are trying to eat, and suddenly without warning there is a bellydancer up there, so they want to eat, watch, talk, rest , photograph everything all at the same time.... then i try and get them up to dance with me either they go 'f**k it, why not' or they just disappear into their chairs hoping I don't spot them!

I would say the boats are a must for any tourist..... and I guess if you are doing a whistle stop tour of Cairo then why not- nile cruise, lunch, dancer, tannoura and band all in an hour............... but somehow I feel the evening cruises are better value for money!!! I certainly prefer working them! plus its really weird having to put on full stage make-up at 11am!!!!!!!!!

I went on a Nile dinner cruise when I went to Cairo (December 29th-January 10th- too bad I didn't know about this blog until now!) and I was just curious is you know who might have been the dancer?

I actually have no idea what boat I was on but I know it wasn't the pharaoh. I have a link to two pictures of her that I took (not the greatest pictures though)

Anyway, I was just curious as to who I saw =o) The show also had a whirling dervish and a band.

p.s. I'm EXTREMELY jealous of you right now! I've only been back a few weeks and I already miss Cairo!

sorry Ashley- I have absolutly NO IDEA who she is.... she looks a bit scary though! I dont even recognise the boat.

Cairo got under your skin though eh? Funny how people either LOVE this place or HATE it- there never seems to be any middle ground. you'll juts have to come back again!!!

yeah, she didn't do much dancing at all. She inmpressed my non-bellydancer friends but that's about it. I payed more attentiion to the fact that her chest was about to fall out of her bra.

I'm hoping to go back to Cairo someday and bring my son once he gets older... It's dirty and the traffic is crazy but eh, it kinda grows on you =o)
